Panther Sign: Scat
Panther feces vary from dark, runny masses to twisted tubular shapes depending on how soon after a meal the scat was deposited. The most identifiable type of scat, however, are those twisted, tubular forms that may be up to 24 cm (9.4 in) long and 4 cm (1.6 in) in diameter. Scat usually contains hair of the prey and may contain bone fragments. Scat from a panther that has recently eaten the internal organs of a fresh kill will be smooth and very dark.
